Crvena Zvezda vs. Bordeaux

I was planning to take the day off from capping any games tomorrow but I made a special attempt to look at this match because two guys I work with (a Serbian and a Frenchman) support these teams. So this is for Alex and Herve who will be bitter enemies for 90 minutes.

I can’t say this any other way, “The Crvena Zvezda FC is in horrendous shape.” They are having trouble winning this year.

In Europa League action they have 3 Draws and 1 Win. Both matches against Nicosia were 0-0 Draws and they advanced to face Bordeaux on penalties. Previous to that they allowed Nafta (a terrible team) to score 6 goals on them and they narrowly qualified 7-6.

CZ really need to clean house from the reception desk to the CEO.

To add insult to injury……. The Famous Robert Prosinecki (Manager), who has been the architect behind the rebuilding process for CZ over the past two years quit after the first league match 3 days ago.

According to Alex (above) the story is that one of the suits in the organization started giving Prosinecki advice and he just blew up and walked out. He was the last bit of glue holding this team together. Now yesterday a key player, Evandro Goebel left CZ.

Furthermore, in their first official league match they tied 2-2 after going down 2-0 at the half. Their opponent had a RED CARD issued to them in the 26’ and CZ allowed 2 goals in the 33’ & 45’ respectively. They had an extra man for 64 minutes and only managed a 2-2 draw. Now that’s bad.

I’ll keep this part short………Bordeaux on the other hand are in great shape and on a nice run with 8 straight wins and only 1 loss in their last 13 league matches. The club is stable and the players are happy. They are a level above Zvezda in every facet from the boardroom to the pitch.

What a miss-match and I plan on cashing in.

Girondins de Bordeaux -0.5 (+110) 3 Units

First loss and on a day I was going to pass on. LOL.

Saw the game and I have to say that Red Star are very rough and there were many fouls that warranted a yellow card but it seems the ref left them in his dressing room. Not one yellow all game. I mean cleat first tackles and clear body first and ball second knocks.

Both sides deserved a couple of yellows but it makes you wonder if this ref was on the take to keep the yellows below a number or at nil. Very suspicious that no yellows we're handed out on either side.

Also, really great crowd and atmosphere for the home side and the Red Star keeper made some amazing saves. He kept them in it for the draw.

We'll get them next time.
